Ellie’s TPLO Surgery Recovery 2 year anniversary!

It’s official! Today is the two year anniversary of Ellie’s TPLO surgery! And, to celebrate this momentous event, Ellie the Stupendous/Magnificent/Miraculous/Wonder Labrador for the Ages just completed a 4 1/2 mile train run over the creek and through the woods. She will now want to lay down and kick it for the rest of the day and bask in the glory of her complete recovery. Congratulations Ellie! You are truly the best canine companion anyone could ever hope to have :)

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am just entering this overwhelming process with my dog and I am weeping reading your information. I have done some research trying to locate Dr. Faulkner because what I want more than anything right now is the confidence that she will come through ok. Is Dr. Faulkner still in practice? I have researched a few ortho surgeons but have not yet found the right fit.

      Hi Rae,

I am sorry that you have to go through the process but believe me, you and your dog can get through it. Dr. Faulkner travels throughout the Pacific Northwest and typically just performs these types of procedures. As for locating him I would suggest calling West Hills Animal Hospital at 541-758-4509. Ask them the best way to get in touch with him and also about surgery scheduling. Are you located in Oregon or in this part of the country?

Thanks for the information. I put in a call to them today. Hopefully this will be the one :-) I live in Salem but my dog has frequently gone to a vet in Portland because I have been up there a lot. I have just been in the process of trying to find the right facility, surgeon, and care team. I came across Ellie’s story and was thrilled to read the play by play, especially because it sounds like it was written by someone who loves their dog as much as I do. That was comforting in itself at the beginning of a very terrifying experience.
    Thank you so much,
    Rae
